Fraunhofer Institutes developed Super-Battery

Together with TNO (The Netherlands Organisation) the german Fraunhofer Institutes developed a battery to power cars for more than 1.000 kilometers.

Both partners already founded a company called „SALD BV“ to market their „Spatial Atom Layer Deposition“ technology. Basically SALD is an ultra thin coating that is used inside the battery cells to increase their capacity and loading speed.

Batteries with the current size will be able to power cars for 1.000 – 2.000 kilometers and are still charged up to 80% within 20 minutes.

Frank Verhage, CEO of SALD, stated that from 2022 car companies will be able to use massmanufactured batteries with this new technology.
